Charlotte Twitchell

Pilates & Barre Teacher

Charlotte is trained in STOTT Pilates methodology as a Mat and Reformer Pilates instructor. She also has a B.S. in Kinesiology and is a certified massage therapist. Charlotte grew up with Pilates alongside her Ballet training as a very young child of 11 years. She felt very comfortable with the repertoire before ever deciding to officially go in to teach it, and was offered the opportunity in University to add the certification onto her degree in movement. She has been teaching movement since 16 years of age, as most dancers do in their training. The long and extensive timeline has helped her feel at home in a teaching role. As a teacher, Charlotte’s teaching style is influenced both by her dance training and her deep passion for knowing the body’s mechanics and structures. It is a mix of deeply meditative, somewhat imagery based, and deeply anatomical.

She loves to help people become intimately familiar with the muscles they are using, why and when they need to be used, how to relax them, and most importantly how not to judge and to fully enjoy their movement. For her, the experience she wants when taking the class is the experience she’d like to provide. She strives for a fun, soothing and engaging atmosphere where hard work will seem easier and enjoyable. Charlotte has a lot of hobbies, as she often gets quickly bored of one thing and needs to pick up another. She has always been quite talented with sketching, painting, and clay work, so those are often her go-tos for entertainment. She also knits, sew, and crochet, though it wasn’t necessarily her favorite. Her newest hobby, Roller Skating, is her newest favorite, as it combines movement, dance, and a third new challenge, rolling around gracefully. She loves cooking, but doesn’t consider essential household chores as hobbies, and she is a professional dancer as well, which is her passion in life.

“My favorite quote is something my mother used to say, though I’m not sure she coined it – Say what you mean, and mean what you say, but don’t say it mean- it’s more important to me now more than ever. I truly think kindness and compassion is more important than any other human trait because it cascades into other positive qualities. Charlotte’s qualifications:

B.S. in Kinesiology (2015) Other courses and workshops:

Pre/post natal Workshop, Pilates for Dancers workshop. Charlotte is currently training to be a physiotherapist.
